A New 30 Days

I am thinking of starting a new challenge this upcoming month. However, it won’t be a daily song challenge, but a POETRY challenge. I wanted to start this so I can practice writing every day. I technically write every day in my English classes, but I feel that it doesn’t fulfill my creative outlet. I saw this specific challenge on this blog. It wasn’t in a text form so I went through the days and wrote down the challenge and created this picture 🙂

30days_of_poetry

I am not sure if I want to start it during the last week of October or in the beginning of November (probably November). But you’ll know once I start posting from the first day. I will try my best to keep consistency! My passion is to write which is one of the reasons why I started this blog to post about my life, my poetry, and about music. I feel this project will help maintain creative flow. We all feel tired and stressed and sometimes we forget to do something for ourselves.

P.S

If you would like to follow my blog, go to my homepage and sign up with your email to get notifications everytime I post, it’s really simple! The subscribe button should be towards the bottom of the page if you are using a mobile device. I would appreciate the follow! If you don’t want to sign up, that’s cool with me, I’m happy with your view 🙂

SOTW #22

Now, we’re going to go back to an oldie song. Well, not that old, somewhere in the 2010’s. I remember one summer I was really into two songs of  Foster The People’s songs in their album Supermodel.

I loved playing this song on the ukulele.

Goats in Trees

Another great one of theirs is:

Best Friend

Just hearing these songs reminds me of old memories and a time where music really helped me out,

Now I have two others songs to mention. This one is a new artist favorite in mind:

Really Something by Hector Gachan

And this next one is a favorite in general. I love The Garden twins.

Soaring by Puzzle, twin Fletcher’s project aside from The Garden

****And bonus shout out song to his new album that was released this year.****

I hope you enjoy these selections!

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

October: Where am I, What’s coming up

Hello

I have been thinking about setting a monthly update of where I am at the moment. So here is a new catch up with me.

Honestly, this month has been a downer, not just to me but for people around me. Some of my roommates and friends. Everyone has been facing a hard time and I think it just has to do with the month. Midterms are here and there deadlines for things. There are festivals and concerts happening which I had my share in. There’s stress, there’s homework, sometimes procrastinating and just enough time in a day.

It is everywhere. And sickness too.

Pomegranate

For you, you seem alone, and I’ve known many like you

I’ve lived with many like you.

And I feel like you

Till I am not like you

Or me

And asked a question of how to see you.

The woven lungs and snowflakes hide the strain

And as you drain

and drain

The stains of mental drain is a blood bath

It cleans and gleams on the reflection of my iris

The expectations of the tenderness of skin and meat are so unlikely

It doesn’t tear but rather

breaks apart

They can’t bite the fact that this is what I am

The inedible definitions does not nurture their minds

Its dry and sticky and far from replenish

Swallow my teeth to see if it grows in thier head

And seasons bring the ripest one of all

Till again I am covered in my own blood.

MAC DEMARCO AND THE GARDEN

ON OCTOBER 1 I attended a concert for one of my most favorite artists ever

MAC DEMARCO!

What I forgot was that The Garden is touring with Mac Demarco’s group. I bought these tickets to ACL Live about maybe six months ago and what I only new what that The Flamming Lips was performing with a opening performance of Mac Demarco (which is who I really wanted to see, but I do like The Flamming Lips). Anyway, I had no idea that The Garden was going to perform. The week before the concert I kept getting emails reminding me to print my tickets before the concert. At the end of the email it had the line up which was:

The Garden 8:00

Mac Demarco 8:50

Flamming Lips 10:40

And I completely flipped out. My boyfriend told me not to get my hopes up. But why would they even put that in the email? Was my ticket finally fully worth what I was paying for. And what do you know…….The Garden came out and did an amazing set. Nothing could describe how happy I was to see them. Me and RJ where up in the balcony assigned seating in the first row so the view was perfect. The only problem was that no one in the balcony wanted to stand and jam out. Technically the population of the crowd was 80% in their forties with no idea who Mac Demarco or The Garden was. Me and RJ were itching so bad to stand up but we didn’t because we would block people behind us. Next time though, we will see Mac in the pit. Damn, I can’t even describe the feeling when I saw him, it was so surreal.

SOTW #21

Welcome to a new segment of the SOTW.

For this week Ive been listening to random radio playlists and stations based on the songs that I like and artists I follow. Lately I just come upon really great and amazing songs that makes me feel something. The genre is somewhat the same but it makes me happy and feel good. I try my best to listen to a new song every day or every week. Sometimes a new artist finds it’s way to me every day, or even a new album. I got to stay fresh when it comes to music. But I still do love my personal favorites 🙂

Is This What You Can Not Do? by Gold Celeste

Naranja

Naranja is one of my favorite words to say

Naranja is bright and can rhyme with

Lasagna

It is a sweet one and is perfectly popular

Usual lunches counterpart with paper bags.

City Citrus is a movie roll at home

Everyone burned and tanned by Naranja

And me brown as dried dirt

Too bad for me, I could converse nothing else

Naranja never was in a full sentence.

New Artist Inspiration: Charlotte Dos Santos

Like deep velvet and silk.

I came upon Charlotte Dos Santos while I was listening to the Winona Forever Station. The first song I heard from her was Clay, so I thought I should probability listen to other stuff from her. I checked her Spotify profile and discovered that she just released her stuff in 2017 int he album Cleo. She is a Norwegian Singer with a sound that takes you back to the past. It is almost a Nostalgic feel of the 70’s. She attending Burklee College of Music with a background of diverse music inspired from her home life.

Her album released in June 21, 2017 titled Cleo

These tracks have a slow vibes and deep bass lines. Her vocals are eclectic with relaxing smoothness. Her appearance and presentation of herself in her voice and visual  approach gives off very feminine vibes. If I were to compare her to an artists, she has slight similarity to Minnie Riperton with a cross between Little Dragon and Amy Whinehouse.

Her music is so enticing that I can visualize what I am hearing. Her name should not go unnoticed, her take on the production and creation of music gives a whole new sound of modern music. Music in general in our time is starting to bring back the “oldie” sounds which I enjoy very much. If you want to listen to something new listen to Charlotte Dos Santos. Her style gives off such a refreshing motive of beauty. She is such a beautiful and empowering female artist.

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

SOTW #18

Hello, I know it is past mid week but here is some new songs I heard while watching a YouTube video. I would have put something that I’ve been listening to over and over, but I already mentioned those before. Who wants redundancy.

So far I’ve been listening to

Keep Kool by Winona Forever

winona_forever

Surfin’ with U by Selmer

selmer_surfin'

While I was listening to this song it led to a whole station with songs similar to this type of music and I started liking every song that played. I’ll mention them in another post. I hope everyone has a great day! Enjoy

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

Stage 2

But the next day comes

And I find it better with people

If me -myself- and I

were to keep holding the boulder

It doesn’t matter and distracts,

when a few words from you, him, and her

make me work harder

But the day passes by

and I find I am still tacked

rather than filled and webbed with the

cracks

I can’t remember once I talk about it twice

thrice

What it was that made me sigh

And I realized that my mind

lies
